Welcome, Friends of Fitz
The plan is to post project updates and technical discussions here. It’ll be nice to have a space that isn’t reddit or linkedin where I can try out different writing and content styles. I haven’t made a thorough plan or schedule yet, but I have a few ideas.
Story Time
The first idea is to try to frame posts in a story arch. I want to engage the audience, so these posts should follow a intro -> background -> build up -> climax -> conclusion pattern. Present a problem, discuss my approach, show the process, and result / lessons learned. A genuine plot which could form the basis for a video (I won’t necessarily make videos, but I want to start thinking along those lines).
Commentary Posts
These posts will emphasize dialog over storytelling. Documenting workflow patterns, tips and tricks, technical material. I want to demonstrate the ‘how’ and ‘why’ behind decisions rather than pasting a bunch of boilerplate or manpage references. Lead with a hook that plays well on Linkedin, then link here for a longer piece.
Topic Verticals
I’ll probably have a few high level topics and rotate through them:
Music
I’m a burgeoning music producer, and I’m at a point in my development where I want to start thinking more intentionally about my projects. Instead of opening the DAW and throwing sounds at the wall, I want to start setting goals - “Make a song in this genre, with proper musical phrasing and key changes”. Picking references from that genre, hone in my sound design and mix. And importantly, writing these down!
Art
I love making vector art - Posters, TShirts, Wallpapers… and I’d like to get into animation and VJing too. There are lots of little tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years, so I’d like to commentate these and provide a little ‘making of’ post to go along with the posting on my art page
Systems
The third big vertical will cover all things programming, but also other systematic things in my life. Home automation, Studio Setup / Wiring, Controller workflows, my espresso bar… (check out dial-in)
